Golf Hotel Ca’ degli Ulivi is a small four-star in Marciaga, on the hills above Garda town, and its whole reason for being is the golf club it shares a name and an address with: 27 holes laid out among olive trees, with Lake Garda spread out below. Rooms were renovated a few years ago, some suites have access to an infinity pool, and the terrace views are, by every account we read, the best thing about the place. My one-line verdict: arguably the most scenic golf stay on the Veronese shore, but a characterful, slightly uneven four-star rather than a polished luxury resort, so book it for the setting and the golf, not for five-star service.

Location and getting there

Marciaga is a hamlet of Costermano on the slopes behind Garda town, between the lake and the ridge of Monte Baldo. The hotel sits on the golf course itself, and the club’s clubhouse is a few minutes’ walk away. From up here you look across olive groves and cypresses to the water and the Brescia shore. That elevation is the appeal and the catch: Garda’s lakefront is about 3 km away, and guests describe the walk down as 30 to 40 minutes, with a steeper walk back. In practice, you want a car, a taxi number or a bike with a motor.
Verona Villafranca is the nearest airport, about 36 to 38 km away, which most sources put at 35 to 40 minutes by car. Milan Bergamo is roughly 80 km, so allow around an hour and a quarter or more, and Venice Marco Polo is a longer drive of about two hours. The nearest railway station listed by booking platforms is Domegliara, roughly 18 km away; Peschiera del Garda and Verona Porta Nuova are more practical for high-speed trains. Rooms and suites
This is a small house, but nobody seems to agree on exactly how small. Our research turned up contradictory information here: Tripadvisor and Kayak list 28 rooms, HolidayCheck’s description says 26, and another booking site lists 24. It was not clear to us which applies, so ask the hotel if it matters. One golf guide dates a complete renovation to winter 2020/21, and later reviews praise the renovated rooms and terraces, though a few from 2024 and 2025 mention corners that still feel dated.
- Double rooms: the entry category, with a double bed, shower, satellite TV, safe and a balcony or terrace.
- Superior rooms: the same comforts with a lake view. This is the category to book: the view is the point of staying up here.
- Pool suites: booking platforms list suites with private access to a panoramic infinity pool. Ask the hotel exactly which suites include it and whether the access is private or shared.
One detail worth knowing before you book: HolidayCheck notes that air conditioning runs only in July and August. If you are sensitive to warm nights in June or September, ask the hotel how this works now.
Dining
The hotel restaurant is the panoramic terrace, and it is the part of the property that reviewers praise most consistently after the view. Tripadvisor lists it as open all day with continuous service, and the golf club describes the kitchen of the Ca’ degli Ulivi complex as well regarded. The menu leans towards lake and sea fish plus an international à la carte selection, and half board is offered. Breakfast is a buffet and is usually included in the rate. The terrace also hosts weddings, so ask whether a private event falls on your dates.
An honest note on Michelin: I found no Michelin star or other 2026 Michelin listing for the hotel or the club restaurant, and I could not find the name of the current chef. For a special dinner nearby, Oseleta at Villa Cordevigo in Cavaion Veronese is a short drive south.

Spa and pools

Do not expect a big resort spa. What you get is a compact wellness area that is useful after a round:
- Sauna and steam: Finnish sauna, infrared sauna and a Turkish bath.
- Extras: emotional showers, a Kneipp path and a relaxation room, plus a whirlpool.
- Treatments: massages are offered, at extra cost. Book in advance in high season.
- Gym: Tripadvisor notes a fitness room with Technogym equipment added in 2025.
On pools, the sources disagree slightly. All of them list an outdoor pool with sun loungers and umbrellas, described as seasonal, and some suites have access to the panoramic infinity pool mentioned above. Tripadvisor also mentions a renovated relaxation area by the pool in 2025. One regional portal lists an indoor pool as well, but no other source we checked confirms it, so ask the hotel if you are travelling outside summer. Whether the pools are heated in winter is also not published, so confirm before you go.
Sport and activities

Golf is the reason this hotel features in our guide to golf hotels on Lake Garda, and the club is a regular on any list of the best courses on Lake Garda.
Golf at Ca’ degli Ulivi
The Circolo Golf Ca’ degli Ulivi has 27 holes. The 18-hole Championship course is a par 72 of about 6,032 metres from the back tees, designed by the English firm Cotton, Pennink and Partners. The nine-hole Mirabello course is a shorter executive layout on a small hill (sources give par 31 or 32). Both are hilly, and lake views run through much of the round, which is why golfers forgive the uneven lies. Practice facilities include a driving range with open and covered bays, a putting green, a chipping area and a practice bunker. Published green fees have been around €55 on weekdays and €70 at weekends for the Championship course, and €30 to €40 for Mirabello; buggies cost extra. Check current prices and book tee times in advance, as they are required.
The honest caveat: course condition has drawn criticism. Several golfers in 2025 reported hard tees, worn greens and overgrown bunkers, especially on Mirabello, and two August 2026 Tripadvisor reviews again complained about upkeep, which the management answered publicly. Other guests love the course for its setting and its surprising holes. If condition matters as much as views, ask the club about recent work before you book a golf-heavy stay, or split your rounds with other courses on the lake.
Tennis and other sport
Several booking platforms list a tennis court and a squash court, but one lists the tennis court as off-site, and none gives the surface or booking rules. This is not a tennis hotel; our tennis hotels on Lake Garda guide covers properties with proper court set-ups, and also mentions Ca’ degli Ulivi as part of the area’s golf. If you want to hit a few balls, ask the hotel what is available on your dates. Billiards and the gym cover rainy days.

Ca’ degli Ulivi vs other Lake Garda golf stays
| Hotel | Location | Standout | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Golf Hotel Ca’ degli Ulivi | Marciaga, above Garda town | 27 holes on the doorstep, lake views from the course | Golfers who value the view over polish |
| Garda Hotel San Vigilio Golf | Pozzolengo, south of the lake | 36 holes around a medieval abbey, spa, tennis | Golf weeks with variety |
| QC Termegarda Spa & Golf Resort | Calvagese della Riviera, south-west hills | 27 holes at the door, large spa | Golf plus serious wellness |
| Quellenhof Luxury Resort Lazise | Lazise, eastern shore | Five-star spa, tennis and padel, golf packages using Ca’ degli Ulivi | Mixed groups of golfers and non-golfers |
In short: stay at Ca’ degli Ulivi to wake up on the course with the lake below. If you want more holes and a bigger resort, read our Garda Hotel San Vigilio Golf review or our QC Termegarda review. If your partner does not play and wants a five-star spa, the Quellenhof Lazise is about 11 km away and offers golf packages on this very course.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits:
- Golfers who want to walk to the first tee and play a course with real lake views.
- Couples looking for a quiet, small hotel with a panoramic terrace.
- Travellers on a sensible budget who want the Garda view without five-star prices.
- Off-season visitors, since the hotel and course are marketed as open all year.
It does not suit:
- Anyone expecting five-star service, a large spa or a Michelin-starred restaurant.
- Guests without a car who want to walk to the lake and back every evening.
- Golfers for whom manicured, tournament-ready conditions are essential.
- Families with young children, until you have confirmed the child policy (see below).
Charlotte’s tip: book the view, play Mirabello at sunset
Pay the supplement for a lake-view room or a pool suite: a room facing the hillside turns this into a very different stay. Then keep one evening free for a relaxed nine on Mirabello in the late light, followed by dinner on the terrace. It is the kind of evening a bigger resort cannot give you.
Practical tips
- Booking: reserve tee times when you book the room, and ask whether the hotel can arrange green fee packages.
- Best rooms to request: lake-view superior rooms, or a suite with infinity pool access for a special occasion.
- Season: April to early June and September to October are ideal for golf. July and August are hot, and air conditioning reportedly runs only then.
- Children: our research turned up contradictory information here. Trip.com states that children are not permitted and that the minimum check-in age is 18, while other platforms say nothing, and one guest reported being told children could not be booked before they were eventually allowed. Confirm with the hotel before you book.
- Pets: most platforms say pets are not allowed, while Tripadvisor lists the hotel as pet-friendly. Ask the hotel.
- Getting around: bring or rent a car. The access road is narrow, and the walk back from the lake is uphill.
