I am Charlotte Hill, the travel writer and editor behind Elite Travel Habitat. I have always loved Italy. To me it is simply one of the most beautiful countries in the world: the coastlines, the old towns, the food and wine, the light in the late afternoon. This site is where I share the places I keep returning to and the trips I would plan again.
Sicily, my great love
If I had to choose one region, it would be Sicily. I love Palermo, with its markets, palaces and the energy of a city that never quite slows down. And I love Siracusa and the little island of Ortigia, where the evenings by the sea feel like they last forever. Sicily is big, varied and still a little wild, and every visit shows me something new.
The Amalfi Coast, but not in August
I go to the Amalfi Coast every summer. My tip after many visits: go in late summer or in the shoulder season. The water is still warm, the light is softer and the villages are far more relaxed than in peak season.
Italy from the water
Some of my favourite travel moments have been on a boat. Seeing the coast from the sea changes everything, and Lake Como is especially beautiful this way: the villas, the gardens and the mountains reflected in the water. That is why boat trips and yacht charters have their own section here.
