Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort is the big, green, sporty hotel of Riva del Garda: a seven hectare park of old trees between Viale Rovereto and the water, with a red clay tennis court, a padel court, its own sailing and bike centre, the Armonia Spa, three pool areas and accommodation that ranges from lake view rooms to two-bedroom suites and family bungalows. My one-line verdict: arguably the best base on the northern lake for active couples and families who want space, sport and water, as long as you do not expect a destination restaurant or a hushed, adults-only atmosphere.

- Rooms and suites: spread over Hotel Du Lac, the La Villa suites (22), the Murialdo suites (45) and park bungalows. Published totals differ widely, from around 150 to over 250 units depending on what is counted, so ask the hotel if the number matters to you.

- Season: seasonal. In 2026 the main outdoor pools reopened on 15 April, and the hotel closes from around mid-November. A New Year package (27 December 2026 to 3 January 2027) is advertised, so ask the hotel what is open over the holidays.

Lake view rooms and the Murialdo suites sell out first in July and August, and the season is short. Compare dates before you commit.
Location and getting there

Riva del Garda sits where Lake Garda narrows into a fjord between steep limestone walls, which gives the north a very different feel from the soft, olive-covered south. The resort lies on the eastern edge of town along Viale Rovereto, the road towards Torbole, with its park stretching down to the shore and a gate giving direct access to the lakeside path. You can walk into the old town, the harbour and the Torre Apponale in about 15 minutes along the water, and the pebble beaches around Sabbioni are on your doorstep.
The north is the windiest corner of the lake: the Pelèr blows from the north in the early morning, and the southerly Ora fills in from around midday.
Verona Villafranca is the most practical airport, at roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by car via the A22 motorway and the Rovereto Sud exit. Milan Bergamo takes around two hours. By train, Rovereto is the nearest station, with buses down to Riva. Parking is free, with EV chargers on site. Our Italy travel planner covers transfers and car hire.
Rooms and suites
The building you choose matters more than the room category name.
- Hotel Du Lac: the main building, with Design, Parc and Sequoia rooms, garden-facing Superior rooms, Deluxe Lake View rooms on floors four to six and two suite types, at roughly 20 to 38 m². A renovation led by architect Alberto Cecchetto from 2015 refreshed the public areas and many rooms.
- La Villa: 22 classic suites in a former summer residence within the park.
- Murialdo Suites: 45 contemporary suites in a glass and steel building, from around 45 m² for a Premier Suite up to about 110 m², including Executive, Elite (two bedrooms, two bathrooms) and a Penthouse.
- Bungalows and Cottage: single-storey units scattered through the park, from one to four rooms, plus a Cottage Lake View.
Kitchens are listed for the Murialdo and La Villa suites and the bungalows, which is useful for longer family stays. If you want a view, book a Deluxe Lake View: many park-facing rooms look into trees rather than water.
Dining
Food here is built around half board rather than gastronomic pilgrimage:
- Aria: the main dinner restaurant, with live cooking stations and Italian and Trentino dishes, served from around 7 to 9.30 pm.
- La Capannina: the poolside restaurant, open in the warm months for lunch and informal dinners with pizza, grills and salads. In July and August it becomes an à la carte gourmet restaurant in the evening.
- Molo44 Lounge Bar and Bistrot: a terrace in the park for lunch, aperitivo and a piano bar atmosphere at night.
- La Veranda and the Roof Garden: breakfast rooms, the rooftop reserved for Murialdo and La Villa guests in summer.
An honest note on Michelin: none of the resort’s restaurants is listed in the 2026 Michelin Guide, and the current head chef is not named publicly, so ask the hotel if that matters to you. The area is rich in serious cooking, though. Peter Brunel in nearby Arco holds one Michelin star, as do Senso Lake Garda Alfio Ghezzi in Limone and Vecchia Malcesine on the eastern shore, while Al Volt in Riva’s old town is in the guide’s selection.

Spa and pools
The Armonia Spa and Fitness centre is solid rather than spectacular. It has a whirlpool, sauna, Turkish bath, Mediterranean bath, tropical showers, a relaxation area and treatment rooms. The heat area with the whirlpool, sauna and steam rooms is restricted to guests over 16. Hours are short: the heat area opens from 1 pm on weekdays and 10 am at weekends, until 7 pm. Treatments are paid extras.
Pools are a strength, thanks to the space around them:
- Centrale pool area: two outdoor pools in the park, one of them semi-Olympic, plus a small children’s pool. In 2026 it reopened on 15 April.
- Relax Pool: an adults-only pool for guests over 16, which reopens later, in the last ten days of May.
- Cristallo: a heated indoor pool, kept at around 28 to 31°C, open 8 am to 8 pm and the fallback on cool days.
If you want a true spa holiday, the resort is not the strongest choice on the lake. For that, look at our Lefay Resort Lago di Garda review, about 45 minutes down the western shore.
Sport and activities

Sport is where Du Lac et Du Parc earns its place in our guides to tennis hotels on Lake Garda and the best luxury hotels with tennis courts in Italy.
Tennis, padel and beach tennis
The park holds one red clay tennis court. Lessons with a qualified instructor are available on request, individually or for two players, for beginners from age eight and for stronger players who want to stay sharp on holiday. Court hire without a coach costs around 25 euros per hour. A newer padel court costs around 60 euros for 90 minutes, and a beach tennis and beach volleyball court is free for guests, with rackets and balls lent at reception. With one court for a large resort, reserve on arrival. Lesson prices are not published: ask the hotel.
Sailing, windsurfing and the lake
Sailing Du Lac, the resort’s own water sports centre, is the real differentiator. It runs sailing courses for children and adults, from complete beginners to advanced sailors, with internationally recognised certificates, and rents catamarans, dinghies, single and double kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and windsurf equipment. Few hotels on the lake let you walk from breakfast to a dinghy in five minutes.
Cycling, fitness and the park
The same centre hires mountain bikes and e-MTBs, ideal for the Ponale road or the valley to Arco. In the park there is a fitness trail, and the Technogym gym inside Armonia (added in 2022) hosts free classes such as aqua aerobics, Pilates, stretching and Zumba. Children aged 3 to 10 have the Paolino Club. There is no golf on site; for courses around the lake, see our guide to golf on Lake Garda.
What’s nearby
- Riva old town: the Torre Apponale, the Rocca with its museum and the harbour, all within walking distance.
- Arco: a castle on a rock, an old Habsburg-era health resort and a world-class climbing scene, about 15 minutes by car or bike.
- Torbole and the Ponale road: windsurf beaches to the east, and the restored mountain road high above the western cliffs for walkers and cyclists.
- Lake boats: ferries from Riva harbour reach Limone and Malcesine. Our Lake Garda guide covers boat trips, Sirmione, wine and spas.
Du Lac et Du Parc vs other Lake Garda luxury hotels
| Hotel | Location | Standout | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort | Riva del Garda, northern shore | 7 hectare park, red clay court, padel, own sailing and bike centre | Active families, sailors, clay players |
| Quellenhof Luxury Resort Lazise | Lazise, eastern shore | 2 hard tennis courts, 2 padel courts, 2,000 m² spa, adults-only Sky Pool | Serious tennis and padel with a big spa |
| Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda | Gargnano, western shore | All-suite hillside resort with one of the lake’s largest spas | Wellness-focused couples |
| Villa Cortine Palace Hotel | Sirmione, southern shore | Historic villa in a five hectare park, tennis court, private pier | Romantic, quieter stays |
In short: the Quellenhof Lazise is the choice for daily tennis with a pro and a large spa, Lefay wins on pure wellness, and Villa Cortine is the romantic historic villa. Du Lac et Du Parc is the one for water sports, open space and family logistics, at a generally gentler price.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits:
- Families who want a bungalow or suite with a kitchen, a kids’ club and pools with room to spread out.
- Sailors, windsurfers and kayakers who want lessons and rental a short walk from their room.
- Clay court players who are happy with one court and a padel court for variety.
It does not suit:
- Travellers expecting five-star polish and intimate service: this is a large, busy resort in high season.
- Food lovers who want a Michelin-listed restaurant in-house.
- Spa devotees, given the compact heat area and limited afternoon hours.
- Anyone travelling between mid-November and early spring, when the resort is largely closed.
Charlotte’s tip: play with the wind, not against it
Plan every day here around the Ora. Book the clay court for 8 or 9 in the morning while the air is still, take a sailing lesson or a kayak out once the southerly wind fills in after lunch, and end the day with an aperitivo at Molo44. June and September give you this rhythm without the August crowds.
Practical tips

- Booking: reserve tennis lessons, sailing courses and spa treatments as soon as you book the room.
- Best rooms to request: a Deluxe Lake View room on floors four to six of Hotel Du Lac for views, a Murialdo Elite Suite for a family of four, a La Villa Romantic Suite for a classic feel, and a park bungalow if you value privacy over views.
- Season: the resort reopens in spring (the Centrale pools reopened on 15 April in 2026) and closes from around mid-November. Confirm exact dates with the hotel.
- Dress: relaxed by day, smart casual at Aria and the summer gourmet evenings at La Capannina.
- Kids: very welcome, with the Paolino Club for ages 3 to 10. The spa heat area and the Relax Pool are for over 16s only.
- Dogs: dogs have been accepted for a daily fee; ask the hotel for current conditions.
