Venice has a course founded in 1928 on its own Lido, among pines and dunes. Within an hour of the lagoon you also find the Euganean Hills courses around Padua, Arnold Palmer’s Ca’ della Nave, a villa course at Zerman and 27 holes near Asolo. This guide covers seven courses, their visitor rules, getting clubs across the lagoon, and where to stay while a non-golfing partner enjoys Venice, the spas or the Prosecco hills.

The best golf courses near Venice

Veneto clubs publish their rules unevenly. Where a detail comes only from golf guides rather than the club, we say so. Carry your handicap certificate or federation card.
1. Circolo Golf Venezia (Alberoni, Lido di Venezia)
According to the Excelsior’s history of the club, Henry Ford asked Count Giuseppe Volpi in 1928 where he could play, and Volpi created nine holes at Alberoni, laid out by a Scottish architect named Cruickshank. C.K. Cotton extended it to 18 holes in 1951. The par 72 winds through pines, dunes and the lagoon edge, the clubhouse occupies old fort buildings, and the Italian Open was played here in 1955, 1960 and 1974.
Expect narrow fairways, small greens and sea wind. Reviewers single out the short 9th, to a hidden green by the fort, and the 14th along the lagoon.
- Length: not stated on the club’s English pages; golf guides list about 6,086 metres from the white tees and 5,240 metres from the red.
- Visitors: golf guides list a handicap limit of 54; book online or via your hotel.
- Buggies: 18-hole golf cart €50, electric trolley €20 (club fee page).
- Closing day: the club’s homepage mentions Monday closure, while golf directories limit it to the low season; check with the club before planning a Monday round.
- Green fees 2026 (club): €95 on weekdays and €110 at weekends for 18 holes; a winter rate of €60 applies every day from 1 November to 31 March.
- Distance: about 20 minutes’ drive from the Excelsior on the Lido.
2. Asolo Golf Club (Cavaso del Tomba)
At the foot of Monte Tomba, about 15 minutes from Asolo, the club has three par 36 nines: Red, Yellow and Green. Golf travel guides credit European Golf Design. The club calls the Red nine strategic, the Yellow open, and the Green a test of precision; Red 6 is the hardest hole.
Our research turned up contradictory information on the opening year: one golf travel operator gives 1995, a golf guide 1997, and the club does not say. It was not clear to us which is right.
- Length: the club’s per-hole figures add up to about 2,930 metres per nine from the yellow tees and 2,540 from the red.
- Visitors: golf guides list a handicap limit of 54; the club runs a federal beginners’ academy.
- Buggies: golf cart €40 for 18 holes (club page).
- Closing day: sources differ, so check with the club.
- Green fees: the club’s page does not set out a clear 2026 rate, so check with the club.
- Distance: roughly an hour and a quarter from Venice Marco Polo airport, depending on traffic.
3. Golf Club Padova (Valsanzibio, Galzignano Terme)
Inside the Euganean Hills Regional Park, beside the gardens of Villa Barbarigo, this is the Padua area’s oldest club. Our research turned up contradictory dates: the club gives 1962, a golf guide 1964. A third nine came in 2003, giving Blue, Yellow and Red loops, each a par 36 of about 3,000 metres according to the Abano tourist board. The club does not name a designer. Expect mature trees and water.
- Visitors: golf guides list a handicap limit of 54 with a certificate; dogs are not allowed.
- Buggies: golf car €45 for 18 holes (club page).
- Closing day: open daily in April, May, June, September and October; closed on Mondays in the other months.
- Green fees: the club currently lists €130 in low season and €150 in high season for 18 holes, without stating the year, so confirm when you book.
- Distance: about 9 km from Abano Terme, according to the town’s tourist board.
4. Golf della Montecchia (Selvazzano Dentro)
Founded in 1988 on former Emo Capodilista land, Montecchia was designed by British architect Tom Macaulay, and its clubhouse is a converted tobacco dryer. The club lists 27 holes, par 72 and 6,318 metres, and has hosted Challenge Tour and Alps Tour events; European Golf Design led a 2022 renovation. The club calls it flat but very technical, with water in play.
- Visitors: golf guides list a handicap limit of 54; the 9-hole Green course is pet friendly.
- Buggies: available for hire according to golf guides; check prices with the club.
- Closing day: the club lists its office as open every day; check with the club for any course closures.
- Green fees: not published on the club website, so check with the club.
- Distance: western edge of Padua, a short drive from Abano Terme.
5. Golf Club Frassanelle (Rovolon)
Frassanelle lies in a 19th-century park of more than 200 hectares on the Papafava estate, below the Euganean Hills. The club says Marco Croze built the 18 holes in 1990; golf guides list a par 72 of 6,180 metres from the whites and 5,173 from the reds. Wildlife and old trees give it the feel of a private estate.
- Visitors: a valid handicap certificate is required, according to golf guides; the limit is not published, so check with the club.
- Buggies: available, prices not published on the tariff page.
- Closing day: Tuesday; open all year (club).
- Green fees: the club’s tariff page lists €80 to €120 for 18 holes depending on season and day, without stating the year.
- Distance: a short drive from Abano Terme.
6. Golf Club Ca’ della Nave (Martellago)
Designed by Arnold Palmer, Ca’ della Nave opened in 1988 with the Italian Ladies Open. The club lists a par 72 of 6,350 metres, with American-style bunkers and water on 12 holes; the 18th green sits in a natural amphitheatre below a villa and its barchessa. Our research turned up contradictory information on the short course: some guides list a 9-hole executive course, while a golf directory lists only a 3-hole short course in the practice area, so check with the club.
- Visitors: golf guides list a handicap limit of 54.
- Buggies: electric carts listed by golf guides; check with the club for prices.
- Closing day and green fees: the club publishes a 2026 tariff page; check with the club for current rates and closing days.
- Distance: in Martellago, on the mainland north west of Mestre.
7. Golf Club Villa Condulmer (Zerman di Mogliano Veneto)
Around the 18th-century Villa Condulmer, this course wanders through centuries-old trees. The club credits John Harris with the first nine and Marco Croze with the second, plus a 9-hole executive loop. Hole 7 crosses a canal about 10 metres wide, and the 17th, the hardest, has a canal down the right and a lake around the green.
- Visitors: golf guides list a handicap limit of 36 from Monday to Friday; check weekend conditions with the club.
- Buggies: golf cart €50 for 18 holes for non-members (club).
- Closing day: Monday (club).

- Distance: a few kilometres from both Venice and Treviso, according to the club.

How to plan golf near Venice

Best months and weather. April to June and September to October are the most comfortable. July and August are hot and humid, so take early tee times. Several clubs play all year, though winter fog can delay starts on the mainland.
Reaching the Lido with clubs. The Lido has roads. ACTV car ferry line 17 links Tronchetto with the Lido; book a car space for a €2 fee through the Venezia Unica call centre, 30 days to three hours ahead, and check in 40 to 20 minutes before sailing. Without a car, take a water taxi with your bag, or hire clubs and trolley at the club for €40.
Transfers on the mainland. A hire car links the mainland courses; our Italy travel planner covers car hire and transfers.
Booking tee times. Circolo Golf Venezia and Asolo offer online tee time booking; for the other clubs, phone or email the secretary. Book weekends early and check for competition days.
Dress code. Collared shirts, tailored shorts or trousers and soft spikes are safe everywhere; golf guides note Asolo bans mobile phones on the course.
Days off the course. Pair the Lido with Venice by boat: gondolas, Murano, Burano and Torcello, or the best museums in Venice. Asolo partners well with Prosecco hills wine tours from Venice. Racquet players: see tennis hotels in Venice and the Veneto.
Charlotte’s tip: split the week between the lagoon and the hills
Spend three nights on the Lido and play Alberoni on a weekday, when green fees are lower. Then move inland, playing Asolo or the Euganean courses while a non-golfing partner tours the Prosecco hills or the thermal spas. Book the car ferry before you arrive.
